A friend of mine (well, to fully delineate the connections, the son of my father's university classmate) is studying in Concordia University, Montreal, Canada this year. He is completing a Master's Program in electrical engineering, I believe. Though fields in the hard sciences are indistinguishable to me, so I may very well be mistaken.
A blog of his adventures in French-speaking Montreal can be found here. A few days ago, he sent me a photograph of Montreal skyline, which I found breathtakingly beautiful and touching in a way that only photographs of bustling humanity -- so self-absorbed and unaware of the voyeuristic gaze -- can be.
I hope to visit Montreal some time this year. It has always been described to me as a charming city full of character, its size notwithstanding. In the meanwhile, this photo will have to satisfy my wanderlust.

Oh Nancy--
You do not know, but Montreal is one of my favorite cities in the world. I visited it when I was... maybe 13 or so, with my parents. I absolutely fell in love--French! And such charming architecture, and just... wonderful. Before I traveled in Asia, Montreal was #1 on my list of cities I wanted to live in. It's still up there.
Wonderful!
Perhaps we can go together? Perhaps during spring break, after we turn in our theses?
I'm thinking YES!
Weren't you going to Japan then? :P Although Montreal seems much more feasible. But I think a lot of people go to Montreal during spring break to party, and we might find that loathsome. Hmm.
Maybe after exams and before graduation? :)
